Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant History

Roberto De La Torre franchised Roberto’s Taco and followed the same trend. He named it Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant and opened his first stall in 1979.

He worked tirelessly for 7 years before gathering enough funds to open his own restaurant. As you can guess, his early days weren’t that great.

Berto’s wasn’t a popular business until recently. People saw the similarities and started exploring them one by one.

But if we check their early days, then we’ll see a rather slow start. Alberto’s had it slow too; Delhi only had $1.90 worth of beef torta and a coke on the first day.

And remember that it stayed open for 24 hours. As time progressed, these two dollars turned into 30, 90, and 150. It took a while until customers started opening up.

When it did, they couldn’t stop coming. TexMex offers high-grade foods for dirt cheap. How can anyone resist that? Meanwhile, Alberto’s was using local ingredients that were far superior to those at your everyday metro outlets.

Time was on his side, and around the late 1990s, people started noticing the similarities in names. Meanwhile, the menus and anything but “Berto’s” were different.

“No Berto’s is the same”—that’s the real motto behind it. It wasn’t something that he originally intended, but it was exactly what he deserved.

The wacky way of franchising and making it fun by not limiting franchised owners to force sell their stuff, he gave them full independence, and that’s why now we can enjoy a different theme in each Berto’s.

You can see many Berto’s while driving through the countryside of California. But just know that despite the similarities in name, no two Berto’s will provide you with the same experience.

Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant Review

TexMex has always been the hot spot for tacos. Apart from that, expect a million other variations, and you can have a glance at some of them by checking out Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant menu prices

Our journey began with a bacon breakfast burrito. It’s the best burrito they’ve sold so far, at least according to the reviews we could find.

The tortilla had an egg base with potatoes and cheese wrapped around two bacon pieces. You don’t need pros to tell you that this dish entirely depends on fresh ingredients.

Now, a matter of tinkering can fix that. And surprisingly, it was as fresh as it could get. Warm, and two burrito combos actually felt like something was going on inside.

I’ve seen a lot of burritos that only roll one egg in both of them. Alberto’s used an egg. Generous portions and the same goes for the bacon.

And, of course, it tastes great. A fresh and warm meal is enough to melt my heart. But this actually tastes great! No wonder people from all over the town come here to eat these godly burritos.

I would too, but only if I were living in California, or PC in particular. Next, I tried an egg, potato, and cheese burrito.

Same stuff, just without bacon, because I just love the texture of eggs. The chicken farms here must take good care of their chicks.

The next serious one was the chicken torta. The main ingredients were guacamole, cheese, lettuce, chicken, and some noodles filled in between a white bread sandwich.

Another delicious dish with mouthwatering juice pouring down from the top. And I just have to say that these fresh veggies just hit differently.

Final Thoughts

There are a few things that Alberto needs to work on. The first one is their website; it has been maintained so terribly that reviewing it only makes it worse.

But the food seemed fine. Just make sure to eat it quickly instead of chatting yourself to death. Most Mexican dishes don’t taste that great when cold, and the messy part hits hard at that moment.

Still, there is no way that I can give a negative ratio to Alberto’s for now. The food was tasty, and as far as their name goes, it has a nice ring to it.

They are unique in themselves, and Alberto’s is one of them. It also has the honor of becoming one of the first franchised locations for Roberto’s Taco.
