Barberitos History
The first restaurant was opened in the year 2000 by Downing Barber, founder and CEO of Barberitos.
His intention was clear: to serve the freshest burritos in town without costing a fortune. If you remember, we said this comes from his own experience.
Yes, it’s true; in fact, it is a funny one. Somewhere in the 20th century, he worked as a corporate worker. The daily grind and pay, run dry right in the middle of the month.
He suffered it all, and when he visited Athens, his funds again ran completely dry. So what should he do? A man needs to eat; otherwise, how can he work?
So he went on his course to find cheap foods with fresh ingredients. It’s no surprise that it is not a viable choice, even in this age.
Still, he tried quite a few TexMex chains until he came across a Mission-style burrito stand. To his surprise, that place didn’t just give him the best burrito of his life.
But I also didn’t ask for any more than those cheaper ones. This was a dream come true, and there he found out there were real people who just wanted to serve a warm meal.
He then realized what he had been doing up until now and why he had just stopped doing it altogether. His intentions became clear, and he quit his corporate job.
He was a former chef, so it didn’t take him long to develop his own recipe that didn’t use too many expensive ingredients.
The same goes for funds; his corporate life gave him the confidence to speak freely and share his vision of how his business idea isn’t just a lost cause. And the day came in the year 2000 when the first Barberitos were raised from the ashes.

Experience the massive heat generated by these tiny pieces of ghost pepper. It’s as ghastly as it sounds, so make sure that your throat can endure the pain and suffering of this ultra-spicy meal.
Jokes aside, this chicken burrito is quite delightful, if you ask me. It uses a ghost pepper tortilla, which is pretty obvious at this point. Even the chicken is covered in those spicy bites.
Apart from that, you’ll get shredded cheese, black beans, rice, pico, pickled jalapenos, and ranch dressing.
A complete pack for 10.99 only. The majority of the heat will be absorbed by those ingredients. In fact, most of them have anti-inflammatory effects, so they’ll passively calm your throat.
Otherwise, how can you endure a second bite? Anyway, it’s a great dish that really deserves some praise. It is super yummy, despite the firepower of Ghost Pepper. Must try 100%.
Next up is another set of burritos with habanero chicken. This one has the classic salty and sweet flavors.
And yeah, the habanero in it has some heat to it. It’s still nothing when compared to what we just had. The chicken is rolled in with that spicy habanero mixture.
While the other ingredients are pretty much the same as the first one, like black beans, rice, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and so on.
Only the ranch is different in that it uses Chipotle ranch. And the same goes for the Chipotle tortilla. It’s a great combination as well, and quite savory too.

Overall, both of our meals turned out to be great. The ghost pepper one was exceptionally spicy and managed to give us an experience worth remembering.

As far as I can see, today was a solid experience. From food to the table, everything was great and peaceful. The entire ordering process was smooth too, which shows how disciplined the staff are.
As far as our rating goes, it’s obviously 10/10. Food is 10/10, service is 10 too, and the same goes for the sauce and anything else that we forgot to mention.
