BC Pizza History
Chris and Wayne Nelson, two brothers, had a dream of opening an authentic pizza restaurant that makes pizza in its own way.
Their dream began right in their high school days. And it’s no wonder that no novice food enthusiast can develop recipes overnight.
So they tried again and again in their mother’s kitchen. Until they had good enough crust and an authentic sauce that would later define its legacy.
Maybe it took years, or as little as a few weeks. Nobody knows the exact details, but this much is certain: the first public appearance was held in Boyne City, Michigan, in 1988.
They named it BC Pizza. The letter “C” probably came from Chris, while the “B” may refer to Brotherhood.
Most people say it initially stood for Boyne City but later got renamed to Best Choice. Regardless, it has a nice ring to it.
Plus, history shows that smaller names go a long way. That’s why the calls have been pouring in since day one.
Everyone needed to know how good or bad these new players were. Both brothers gave their all in a special one-to-one customer interaction.
This made the ordering process fun and exciting, while the pizza did its magic of satisfying any curiosity in their mind.
Everything, from the crust to the sauce, is homemade. Every franchised location had to follow that too.
Maybe the sauces are delivered, except that everything else should be sourced locally by the store owner.
How can we forget their community service? Each location is bound to help the local community in many ways.
Whether it be taking part in fairs, putting up food stalls, giving free food to homeless people, or donating to local charitable programs, BC Pizza never backs down from doing things the right way.
BC Pizza Review
Make sure to check out our second segment for a full list of BC Pizza menu prices. It’ll make your ordering process easier.
First on our list is the Personal BC Meat Lover. It’s a heaven for meat lovers. The top part is filled with so much meat that it looks piping red.
This bad boy has a hell lot of Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, hamburger, and mozzarella.
All jam-packed inside a BC Pizza-style garlic butter crust. You can customize it from the four available options.
The same goes for the spread. We went for Cajun All Over, but you can pick anything you like. And man, do those fit together; even the meats don’t taste that different.
It’s like all of those came from a single animal. Still, the balance between the meat and the crust was possible due to the crust and the spread.
It made a base on which these meats were baked again, harmonizing the flavors so they had the same level of consistency from all angles.
This is what gourmet pizza tastes like? I guess it does. It is a good experience, far better than any regular combination.
Next up is a vegetarian pizza. It’s always surprising to see vegetarian alternatives in these kinds of stores.
But mostly, they don’t take good care of it. But here, it looks quite appetizing. The main ingredients are like this: onions, black olives, mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, and mozzarella.
That’s a good list of items; in fact, having onions is the big part for me. It’s simply the best dish any fast food can have, but usually, they ignore it.
Thankfully, BC Pizza made a good decision, and that’s why this beefy pizza tastes delicious.

Final Thoughts
It’s a shame that not all recipes are available at all locations. The flagship ones offer everything. But our tour location wasn’t a flagship location.
And that’s why we had very limited items to choose from. Still, I’ll have to say that I’m quite impressed by their gourmet pizzas.
It was magic that we are now witnessing in real time. Vegetarian pizza was the big winner for me. Super scrumptious and tastes so freaking good.
10/10 from us; I can’t give any less than that. It’s a small chain with big, ambitious dreams. We are looking forward to that and how they will end up in the future.
