Carrabba’s Italian Grill History
The first restaurant opened back in 1986, on December 26. It was opened by John Charles “Johnny” Carrabba III and Damian Mandola.
The name Carrabba comes from the name of the first founding fathers. As for the Italian Grill part, it came from the kind of menu they served.
But that wasn’t the name when it first came. The first restaurant was opened on Kirby Drive in Houston, Texas. Soon enough, a second restaurant was opened right when Woodway and Voss Road intersected.
This second restaurant was named Rosie Carrabba’s. Do you know why? Well, that’s to commemorate a person named Rosie.
She was the sister of Damien, Charles’s uncle, the second founder at the time. Rosie was the person who showed these two how their specialty dishes are made.
In 1993, Carrabba’s entered into a joint venture with Outback Steakhouse, Inc. They also became one of the main suppliers of meat in their restaurant soon after.
Thanks to that, they were able to open 10 more restaurants in Florida. Then, in 1995, Outback Steakhouse, Inc. acquired full authority to develop more chains nationwide.
And finally, in 2021, the long agreement or joint venture between Bloomin Brands ended. (formerly known as Outback Steakhouse, Inc.)
But the good news is that the original locations are still owned by the next generation of Carrabba’s. You can go there right now and enjoy the original dish at its finest.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill Review
Now that you know how Carrabba’s Italian Grill menu and prices came to light, it’s about time you also learn about a few of their famous dishes of the century.
New Mezzaluna Fritte, for example, is a rather new dish on the list, and it deserves the top spot because of how famous it has become.
In this Italian dish, you’ll get half-moon ravioli stuffed with chicken, ricotta, romano cheese, spinach, and parmesan, breaded and fried to perfection.
As for the dipping, you’ll get tomato cream sauce. It’s creamy, sweet, and fits perfectly with this new menu.
How can an Italian restaurant review end without mentioning pasta? Well, it’s their specialty, and that’s why Rigatoni al Forno made their list.
On this Carrabba’s Italian Grill menu, you’ll get Rigatoni pasta that is oven-baked with tomato cream sauce. Along with Italian sausage, romano, parmesan, mozzarella, and goat cheese, which is also topped with mozzarella.
But everything fails before the star dish, salmon capperi. Each bite of this heavenly dish is just fantastic.
You’ll get to eat wood-grilled salmon topped with oven-roasted grape tomatoes, fresh basil, capers, and our lemon butter sauce.
You can even order your choice of side dish. Still not enough? Then order all their must-try items at once and have the feast of your lifetime!

Final Thoughts
Did you wonder who taught Rosie how to cook? That would be Grace, her mother. She always taught their child how important a portion of food is and how fortunate she is to eat a healthy meal with her meal.
That was the definition of heaven for her, and Rosie followed the same ideology to the core. The same goes for Damian.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill transformed from a family restaurant to the giant that we know today thanks to the influence of Grace.
So if you would like to thank someone, thank Rosie and her mother, Grace. Their original recipes are still lingering on the Carrabba’s Italian Grill menu.
Also, if you are looking for regular menu items like pizza, you can have them. Carrabba’s Italian Grill menu is big and has almost all famous Italian foods.
The food they make is enough to prove why Carrabba’s Italian Grill is now the second-largest Italian restaurant chain in the USA.
All’s well that ends, and if all you need is a family-friendly restaurant that also happens to offer Italian food, then Carrabba’s Italian Grill is your go-to option.
