J.CO Donuts & Coffee History

It was founded by Johnny Andrean in 2005. It is said to be the fastest-growing coffee and donut chain in Indonesia.

It only took 4 months to clear all the loans and debts and start earning profits. Within the first year, J.CO Donuts began franchising.

The actual years are unknown since it wasn’t recorded properly. But we think 2006 was the big year for this chain.

Donuts are a popular concept that is loved throughout the world. And no one can say no to a well-topped donut that doesn’t cost a fortune.

Most Asian markets prefer cheap, locally made fast foods over things like KFC or McDonald’s. You’ll be shocked by how underperforming these are everywhere else than the USA.

As for our main topic on hand, it started its international journey around 2010. The first markets were Singapore and the Philippines.

They are the closest and match fairly with their target audiences. Although the main focus remained on the domestic market.

Still, 5-10 stores can be seen in Singapore, Philippines. While Malaysia has 18 and Hong Kong has 45.

Numbers may have gone up and down. These aren’t up to date, but it is enough to show which market is the main target here.

Most of its products are named based on local culture or famous eponyms and wordplays. Unlike in the US, where each product simply uses its main ingredients as its name.

The best example is the Alcapone, which is the top-selling donut, and it is inspired by Al Capone, an Italian most wanted gangster.

J.CO Donuts now has multiple branches like J.CRONUT, J.POPS, J.CLUB, etc. These are gourmet selections of pastries, sandwiches, and salads.

You can find out more about it right after this section, and with that, our history section comes to an end.

J.CO Donuts & Coffee Review

As always, make sure to have a quick look at the J.CO Donuts & Coffee menu prices given above. It’ll be greatly based on both nation and region.

First on our list is the Black Jack, a donut that is fully engulfed in dark chocolate. A cult classic that can never get old.

The dough is soft and sweet. While the chocolate, well, has its own flavor that complements the entire thing pretty well.

Anyway, we can’t imagine the taste, but as far as I can see, the recipe isn’t that far-fetched. It’s a donut after all, and you can expect a great taste any time of the day.

There was one more that caught my eye, and it’s called Forest Glam. It has a unique blend of toppings that makes it more interesting.

For example, the layer of black forest chocolate. You don’t see that every day, and its making process is different across regions.

But that’s not all; it even uses a wide selection of toppings like dark chocolate flakes, sugar icing powder, and sweet cherries.

These toppings make it truly amazing to watch. These donut pieces look marvelous, and some may feel bad eating these culinary masterpieces.

Well, in that case, get two, or three, or even ten who’s stopping you! Next on our list is their uptake of Donut Sandwich.

It reminds me of Krystal Burgers and Tiny Legends from the US. Anyways, the one that majorly captivated me was the Katsu.

The base protein is crunchy fried chicken katsu. It is a Japanese-style dish that usually refers to chicken cutlet.

That’s just the protein part. The rest includes two savory donut sandwiches, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and barbecue sauce.

It takes just a minute to make, and does it taste good? Well, we won’t know. But man, it looks really good!

Final Thoughts

J.CO Donuts & Coffee offers a multitude of products that are both light to eat and don’t use a lot of deep-fried items.

You see, fats increase the taste. And if someone eats them daily, then these low-fat products would taste like water. Actually, one of my colleagues said the exact same thing, and you can already guess what he usually eats.

Overall, J.CO Donuts & Coffee is a solid restaurant chain that is only 19 years old. It’s a rather new challenger, and that’s why it may try its hand on the US market.
