Marble Slab Creamery History
Marble Slab Creamery was originally named Cones & Cream, and it was founded by two chefs, Sigmund Penn and Tom LePage, around 1983.
It was inspired by Herrell’s Ice Cream, another brand that influenced many ice cream enthusiasts to open more businesses over this trend.
Marble Slab was one of them, and its name was incorporated some years after it was founded. Also, it used a blending style that Herrell’s Ice Cream used.
Using frozen granite slabs, Marble Slab Creamery became the first to use it on a large scale in 1986. Ronnie Hankamer bought the brand later that year and started the expansion plan.
Franchising began in the early 2000s, escaping its home region of Southeast Asia and eventually making its way into other parts of the country.
In 2007, it was listed in three rankings; the most notable was the Fastest-Growing Franchises, where it ranked 72nd in the entire nation.
Marble Slab had relatively smooth scrolling for the most part. Many organizations showed interest in owning this brand and liked NextCen.
Despite all that, it never filed for bankruptcy protection; instead, it remained one of the top ice cream sellers throughout the country.
The Marble Slab Creamery menu now includes ice-cold desserts, cakes, shakes, and other items that it initially didn’t, all thanks to the sister companies that it has connections with now.
In 2007, Marble Slab was officially acquired by Global Franchise Group. But the bigger deal was about to happen on June 28th, 2021.

There is no doubt about it, and yeah, the Oreo flavors are clearly noticeable. They used a good amount of it; there was no cheaping out on that.
That same ice cream has a cake edition, but we decided to skip that. Instead, we went for Strawberry Caramel Cheesecake.
Yet another classic that ascends the time. This cheesecake was made with ice cream, strawberries, caramel topping, and Graham crackers.
Think of it as ice cream but in the shape of a cake. Most cakes come cold, at least as far as I know, and that works in their favor.
And man, oh man, this is so good! Never have we tasted something this flavorful inside a cake all of a sudden.
But yeah, make sure to eat it while it’s still cold; the room temperature will start melting the icing if you aren’t quick enough.
The last one was a good old shake, especially the Cookies n’ Cream Shake one, and yeah, it’s the same flavor as the first one.
