Pie Five Pizza History
Pie Five Pizza is a subsidiary company of Pizza Inn, and it was founded on June 3, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas.
The pie represents the pizza, and the five represents the time to make it. In short, it’s a quick-service pizza concept that only focuses on personalized pizzas with a thin or pan crust.
Five more locations were opened in the same Fort Worth area before the year ended. Pizza Inn divided its small pizzas and turned them into a new brand.
This way, the menu can be free of items that aren’t the most famous. While also reducing unnecessary taxes that might come from making these.
In simple terms, making the same pizza in a stall will drastically reduce its price, while it’ll go up if made inside a massive mall.
That’s why Pie Five managed to sell the same stuff at a lower price and with way better service. Each serving was made in 5 minutes only, so the delivery was quick too.
In the shadow of Pizza Inn, Pie Five also rushed its franchising efforts. Unfortunately, this didn’t work out in all the regions.
Like in Pennsylvania, it only lasted a year. The same goes for Chicago, where eight out of nine locations were closed in the Chicago area. Since it was already in development, only one more store opened after that.
There is virtually no massive price difference between it and the bigger ones. Plus, the Full or California Crust has way more ingredients and stuff, so it makes sense to pay extra.
While most items from Pie Five cost $10, they are not too expensive or cheap either. Add a drink or two, and it’ll be priced at the same rate as its bigger competitors.
Pie Five Pizza Review
Pie Five Pizza menu prices are considerably low on paper. Let’s see how much the final order costs.
First on our list is Old World Maggie. This one represents Pie Five’s longest-standing employee.
Includes a thin crust by default and the favorite ingredient that Maggie loved. Like a margarita, it boasts fresh mozzarella, olive oil, grape tomatoes, and fresh basil.
Just make sure to get the house-shredded whole-milk mozzarella cheese. Believe me, it tastes much better than the regular.
Yup, the pizza is also great. The cheese is the main deal, and picking the other one changed the overall texture.
Most of our crew went with different combinations, and this combo was one of them. The refined flavors smell awesome, and the crispy, thin crust is just superb.
Next up was an Indian-style dish called Tandoori Feather. Tandoori is the Indian or Eastern verb for grilled.
But their grills are usually sour. They use lemon, vinegar, and even yogurt in some cases. Pie Five uses its own blend marinated in yogurt blended with Eastern spices.
The chicken is showered in the mixture before being grilled. Then it’s joined by spicy marinara and feta for the final touch.
Count me in! The names of these ingredients already made my mouth water. I still remember having a Tandoori Biryani, and it was the best meat dish I ever had.
As for the pizza, damn, it’s even better. The texture is a bit sour, as expected. But it makes the pizza taste even better.
There was another layer of marinara and yogurt on top. It gave it a sweet side that turned the sour into a tangy-like texture.
A heavenly combination, and nothing less. Only a few managed to make a proper Indian dish and even less could turn it into a masterpiece.
