It was founded by two brothers, Wendell and Bob Swartz, in 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana. Just a few years later, his brother joined the gang, Robert.
For the most part, Wendell and Bob did the heavy work, while Robert helped with franchising and expanding the locations.
In 1957, Sir Pizza was governed by Robert, and despite the difference in name, it still operated under the main branch of Pizza King.
Pizza King and Sir Pizza both had their own mottos, originality, and trademarks that only one provided.
“No Two Pizza Kings Are the Same” is the business model that the main brand follows. This means franchisors will sign a supply-and-license agreement.
This agreement gives total freedom to the franchisors, from logo to banner and even signature ingredients that Pizza King Inc. provides.
That’s why No. 2 Pizza King is the same, and the same can be said about Sir Pizza. Pizza King is known for its signature crust, sauce, and toppings.
Meanwhile, Sir Pizza is known for the lack of all those things above. The catchphrase for Sir Pizza is “Good to the very edge.”
This refers to the lack of tradition. Instead, everything is flattened across the dough—the kind of flatbread pizza that most of us have seen in this day and age.

Our first target was a pizza with an unusual crust. It was made with cauliflower, and the preferred combo was chicken bacon ranch.
This one is the most balanced pizza out there. It comes with chicken, bacon, and a creamy ranch dressing.
When combined with the cauliflower crust, the veggie-to-meat ratio becomes equal, balancing both protein and nutrition for a healthier meal.
This crust clearly has some traits of his own. In fact, it surprised us big time. The flavor was greater than the traditional crust.
It was fluffy in a way that other ingredients felt like filling for tacos. No chewing this time; only bite and engulf.
We’ll recommend getting extra BBQ sauce; it just hits differently, and we know you’ll love it too. Sour cream works too; it has an acquired taste, but some ladies will like that more.
Sandwich is another great pro of this chain, and Pizza King menu has quite a bit of it. Texas BBQ turned out to be the most interesting one out of all.
The middle part is filled with zesty sausage, onions, and cheese. Then those ingredients are mixed with the yummy BBQ sauce.
It comes with a side of chips—quite a feast considering it just costs $10 and 60 cents. Some locations will have different variations of this one, and maybe you can get it even cheaper.
Well, at least for us, this was a steal of a deal. And yeah, it was good—better than we expected. Not as surprising as the cauliflower crust, but still, it has the boom element that our crew loves to hunt.
