Rainforest Cafe History
Steven Schussler was the mastermind behind this idea. He thought, How cool would it be if people could enjoy the warmth of the forest while having a good meal?
Well, that curiosity landed him on the shores of the Mall of America when his idea turned into a reality.
He got permission from the authorities and started designing his cafe. It was filled with things that made the forest different.
Like green-themed walls and mechanical animal puppets. There were also fog generation machines, which gave it an authentic atmosphere.
The founder had so many ideas, but unfortunately, this one cafe wasn’t enough to hold them all. So he decided to go big and start a franchise.
His first restaurant was opened on February 3, 1994, and by 1997, he had opened five more locations around tourist favorites.
The first international Rainforest Cafe was opened in London, England the same year. The main source of income for this chain is the crowd.
Most of what they serve is curated to fit each location. That’s why, despite the same name, different locations had different menus.
Not all, but most of them were tied to a singular location. This played a huge role in attracting dedicated customers.
Slowly, Rainforest Cafe added more things, like waterfalls, fake plants, models of ancient structures, etc.
If you go to their Disney World location, you’ll see Disney-flavored dishes, animal puppets, and walls decorated to fit the theme.
Everything is based in one way or another. Also, their stools resemble the legs of an animal. This is a signature stance for this chain.
Also, the bar area is under a giant mushroom that acts as an umbrella for rain. These kinds of small details are directed toward fledglings.
Rainforest Cafe Review
Rainforest Cafe has a presence in many tourist places, like zoos. Well, it took us a while to pick a spot, but we finally landed at Disney World in Florida.
It was inside the park, so we had to buy a ticket before we could enjoy the meal. The Rainforest menu and prices weren’t cheap by any means. It’s inside Disney World, after all, so even a single strand of hair would cost a fortune.
Anyway, we ordered Benedict Bamba. It was a breakfast dish with eggs Benedict and Canadian bacon.
Breakfast potatoes were served alongside it, so that’s a bonus. In contrast to their restaurant, the food was not up to par.
Eggs Benedict was good as always; nothing wrong with that. Canadian bacon went well with the morning potato.
This was a $16 dish. Can you believe that? Disney World is so damn expensive! Anyway, our next target was Breakfast Burrito.
The tortilla was filled with scrambled eggs and black beans, topped with pico de gallo, cheddar and jack cheese, and fire-roasted salsa.
The side dish was the same as before, so we just skipped that. Instead, we ordered a glass of Brazilian Freeze.
This bad boy had raspberry purée, coconut, pineapple, and banana blended with ice. A perfect mixture to end our breakfast.
Let’s talk about the burritos first. The scrambled egg and two kinds of cheese gave it a juicy texture. That’s how a burrito should look after all.
Meanwhile, the other ingredients widened the flavor. Thanks to that, it perfectly fits with the ongoing theme of Mickey Mouse, who recently entered the public domain.
Meanwhile, the drink was sweet, and the fresh flavor was much needed. Cheese can be greasy, and this juice was the perfect cure for that.

Final Thoughts
Rainforest Cafe is well known for its unique decoration rather than its food. Their main target is foreigners or strangers who don’t know the area well.
That’s why most of their menu items are priced after tax. That makes it 30–40% expensive. For example, those same dishes can be found at half the price outside of the park.
Fairly, Rainforest Cafe can do nothing about this. But we can say this for certain: their fast food range was good.
The breakfast menu was average for the price. If we had had bigger portions, then we would’ve recommended it.
Meanwhile, the burrito was good and had more high-quality ingredients. So make sure to pick fast foods during your visit to Rainforest Cafe.
