Red Mango History
Daniel J. Kim founded this brand in 2007 in Los Angeles, right next to UCLA. He graduated in 1998 from a business college before joining the banking sector.
We don’t know for sure whether he had crazy dreams about mangos or maybe it was his favorite fruit.
Or maybe he fell in love with the red mangoes, which are considered the peak of this fruit. Regardless, he had a great experience with the fruit in person.
And that’s why the name of his new business was based on it. The red mango symbolizes more than just fruit.
It also marks the brand as the best in its competition. With quality and taste that is far superior. Just like any raw mango vs. the red ones.
Red Mango has seen massive success since day one. By the next year, Red Mango had 30 locations scattered around California, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and New York.
The former Taco Bell executive John Antioco joined as an advisor in 2008. And that changed how the business operated in a big way.
He alone helped grow the business from 30 to 50 in his first year. And 50-60 by the next one. Remember that the growth streak takes a big hit once it crosses 50, 100, 500, and so on.
Now, Red Mango needed a new strategy that would keep the existing customers hooked while attracting more new ones.
And that idea was revealed in 2010 to the public as the 22 varieties of smoothies. The current female generations love these smoothies.
By the end of the year, Red Mango received tons of franchising requests. Out of 147, 62 were accepted, which finally crossed the total number to 100. In that same year, Red Mango ranked 4th in the fastest-growing chains of 2010.

So, let’s see what this Rise & Shine Breakfast Wrap has in store for us. It’s a small breakfast dish that won’t be enough alone.
So we also ordered a couple of Farmer’s Favorite Flatbread. Anyways, the first item used fresh scrambled eggs, spinach, red onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese wrapped in a thin tortilla.
Surprisingly, this wrap looked quite big despite having such a small price tag. Onions and tomatoes, especially, can cost a lot depending on the location.
And even then, they priced it quite fairly. As far as the experience goes, it’s great. The egg and bacon are actually well made.
Remember that this place is known for yogurt and smoothies. So seeing a complete breakfast dish and even liking that is a big deal. Anyways, the next menu item is a flatbread that uses extra virgin olive oil to cook the dough.
Along with shredded mozzarella, crumbled Bleu cheese, caramelized onions, and honey drizzle on top for maximum satisfaction.
If we compare it with the first one, this wins by a long shot on quantity alone. The combination of egg and bacon can make you fall in love with it.
But this flatbread is something else. There is no meat in it, and yet it dominates the wrap from each and every angle. A must-try item that’s for sure.
The bowl looked great too, but let’s skip to the good part, and it’s called The Mango Smoothie. Yes, this is the real deal that started all this.
It’s the signature drink from Red Mango, which obviously uses mango, coconut, banana, and honey.
