Ruby Tuesday History
Sandy Beall was the father of Ruby Tuesday. He had received an endowment of $100k, which became the foundation for this chain.
Along with the help of his fraternity brothers, he opened the first Ruby Tuesday restaurant inside the Knoxville campus.
This was a hotspot for students at the University of Tennessee. The initial location was something else, but the final decision was made soon after.
This happened in 1972, and it was an instant hit. Sandy has already worked at Pizza Hut for quite a while at this point. So he knew how to make delicious food.
His dishes were usually made quickly, but remember, this was not a fast-food restaurant. A salty, healthy breakfast was the trend at the time.
It’s still there, but not as much as TexMex or chicken wings. Anyway, Ruby Tuesday opens a new restaurant every nine months.
This growth streak kept going until Sandy decided to sell the franchise to better management.
Morrison Inc. had better management, and it was sold for $15 million in April of 1982. Sandy was then appointed as the president of his branch.
This branch was named Ruby Tuesday Group, and by 1985, it had more than 35 highly popular locations around the country.
Morrison was surprised by how much gain they received after acquiring Ruby Tuesday, so they decided to rename their name.
Morisson, Inc. was changed to Morrison Restaurant, Inc. in 1992. This reflected their main aim or main business.
So after Sandy was promoted to CEO of the main branch on March 9th, 1996, stakeholders were allowed to divide the entire company branch into three separate ones.
Morrison HealthCare Inc., Ruby Tuesday Inc., and Morrison’s Fresh Cooking Inc. This was the final format, which is still going on to this day.
Ruby Tuesday Review
Now that that’s done, let’s dive into Ruby Tuesday menu items. You may enjoy it outside of America too.
But the prices and menus will be different for the most part. Anyway, we aren’t going anywhere, so it was time to hunt for unique dishes on the Ruby Tuesday menu.
We found out that on weekends, Ruby Tuesday adds some special items at a discount. Well, we had no choice but to go for it, and our target was the Saturday Special: Rib Eye, Ribs, and Crispy Shrimp Combo.
It came with a massive plate filled with 6 oz. ribeye, crispy shrimp, a half-rack of baby back ribs, and a choice of our side dish.
As for the protein, it had six temperature options. Well, you guys can pick according to your taste. The same goes for the baby’s back ribs and shrimp.
If it’s your first time, then go for the middle one. It’ll give you a mouthful of juicy fat along with a mild crunchiness.
Steamed broccoli and coleslaw were the preferred side dishes in our case. And yeah, you can have two side dishes if you want, but it’ll cost extra.
Anyway, we had no intention of having anything else since this meal was filling enough. Meanwhile, broccoli is added as a harmonizer of nutrition.
Next up was a glass of Chocolate Brownie Sundae Explosion. Chocolate chip cookies had a nice ring to them, but they looked a bit heavy for our appetite.
Anyway, our Sundae Explosion had chocolate brownies layered with vanilla bean ice cream, caramel, and chocolate sauces.
Ice cream is a must-have dessert after eating a greasy meal like we just had. Meanwhile, the sweetness acts as a medium to flush the mixed flavors from our mouths.

Final Thoughts
Ruby Tuesday Restaurant has a good selection of food. The dining or main meals are mind-blowing. There’s no way this chain was under our radar for this long.
The Saturday Special was truly one-of-a-kind. The combination was perfect for the start of our weekend. It goes well with wine, so we’ll recommend taking a handout.
Meanwhile, the number of fully operational locations is growing both inside and outside of America. We don’t have the actual number.
But as far as we can see, it seems to be reaching 400 this year. The main group is now aiming to cover more ground, and who knows, maybe it’ll arrive at your doorstep too!
Anyway, we give our full support for this one. There is nothing to complain about. The menu and prices both have reasonable tags and now we are 100% satisfied.
