Taco John’s History
In 1968, a man named John Turner started a taco stand called Taco House. He was a former Army Air Force officer who served in the Korean War.
Now he’s retired, and instead of standing still, he decided to get a small store running. He looked for a small place to lease and eventually landed on a small trailer truck.
He renovated it in 7 days and started serving immediately with the name “Taco House.” A regional festival called Cheyenne Frontier Days was coming.
Which was the perfect time for him to shine. He quickly took his trailer and went to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
His dishes had bold flavors, like his signature potato nuggets and his own blend of spices and seasonings, along with chicken and veggie tacos.
To his surprise, his creations were an instant hit at the fair, and he earned 10 times more than he anticipated. His business just became more and more free after that.
By the end of that year, he had opened a real stand at Carey Ave. and W. 24th St. under the same name.
Franchising began in 1969 at the hands of James Woodson and Harold W. Holmes. Woodson was the person who gave him the direction for leasing his first locations.
Meanwhile, Holmes smacked down his camper into a 12×30 trailer, which was the spot of his success. So it was just a given that these two people would be the first names on his mind.
They took over the franchising rights and renamed the Taco House to Taco John’s. It was to memorize the name of the founder for years to come.
The business has gone explosive ever since, and now 22 states are under its deadline clutches. Some of them were even referred to as “the hottest spots in town.”
Taco John’s Review
Taco John’s menu prices are cheaper since it’s a fast food chain. So expect 4-5 items when you visit them.
Taco John’s menu is also filled with hundreds of dishes. For example, fried chicken tacos were our first pick of the day.
It’s one of the original recipes with crave-worthy Fried Chicken Taco that changed the fried chicken game for the better.
This taco had chicken tenders wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with your choice of dressing. You can even make it in a combo.
Anyway, the chicken was soft and all-white meat; well, that’s how we like it anyway. It was so fluffy that all it took was one big bite, and that’s it.
We have no idea how the rest went; it just did. Make sure to pick a good dressing; go with the recommended one if you don’t know which one to go for.
A new item was introduced recently called New! Taco Pizza. Yup, it’s a taco over pizza dough. It’s an experimental dish for the time being.
In short, we don’t know how long it’ll stay on the menus, but if you can find it, then don’t think twice!
It was made with a 10-inch corn and wheat flour crust. Then it was topped with creamy refried beans, seasoned American beef, and crunchy tortilla chips.
Their four-cheese blend and savory Fiesta sauce are also included for the authentic Taco flavor that we just had.
Then they add shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes for a total of 7 layers. Eat solo or make it a combo and eat with friends; everything is possible.
And man, oh man, it was something else. The flavor of their taco was definitely there. But the pizza dough, on the other hand, had a unique flavor too.

Final Thoughts
In the world of Tex-Mex, anything is possible. We ate some unusual combinations, but none of them tasted bad at all.
It was carefully curated and tasted heavily before being presented to ordinary people like us. But this much is certain: Taco John’s knows what they are doing.
Taco John’s breakfast hours are also quite popular. But only if you can find their store before time runs out!
So, how do I do it? Just type “Taco John’s near me” on Google, and the first website should direct you to the nearest Taco John’s store.
Use that, and make sure to get there before breakfast hours run out. Anyway, there’s nothing much to say; Taco John’s has it all, from texture and flavors to a plethora of options.
