The Capital Grille is an American upscale restaurant chain famous for its dry-aged steak. Check below for The Capital Grille menu with prices.
It’s a well-established name that rings throughout Darden Restaurant, and it has been the owner of this chain since 2007. The food is carefully crafted, and each serving took not hours but days to make.
The building is also an architectural monument that shows the fine arts of the modern era. Some locations are made to demonstrate the past decorations, and some also play old-school jazz for their customers.

The Capital Grille History
Ned Grace founded it in the 1990s in Providence, Rhode Island. It was an unusual decision to make an upscale restaurant in an isolated and not-so-famous location such as Providence.
But his plan worked out, and The Capital Grille pulled more than $7 million in annual income after seven years.
Well, that’s not an incredible number. In the 90s, there was a crisis going on called the early 1990s recession.
So why did he make his move amid an economic crisis? Only he knows his true motives. Maybe it was cheaper at that time? The market went crashing down.
So people were looking for more jobs, and maybe, just maybe, The Capital Grille offered them a way to save their families.
Obviously, not everyone could be saved, but whoever did get saved would’ve been grateful for life. Let’s cut to the chase: in 1992, Grace opened another chain called Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse.
Under its leadership, The Capital Grille saw the great success that resonated in Washington, D.C., and Boston soon after.
His second chain went public in 1994 under Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse Inc. It later got renamed to RARE Hospitality International, Inc.
That name would start looking familiar. Because Darden Restaurant acquired that in 2007 for $1.19 billion.
It also included The Capital Grille, which was placed in its Specialty Restaurant Group division. This group focuses more on the chains that aren’t in the group.
It usually included premium and luxurious names that offer more than just food. Yeah, you already guessed it; it’s the experience.
The Capital Grille offered more than what people asked for. A unique kind of steak that was aged 24 days before it’s grilled. A crazy way that doesn’t feel that crazy once it’s in your mouth.
The Capital Grille Review
Enough chit-chat; now let’s have a quick look at the Capital Grille menu prices. Believe me, you’ll want to see this before you decide to go there.
Like this caramelized French onion soup. It starts at 11 bucks and offers a creamy appetizer that just looks heavenly.
It includes a bed of sweet onions that taste sweet by nature. No sugar is needed, and it’s layered on top of a blanket of melted cheeses.
Get a cup for 11 or a crock for 13. I’ll recommend going for the Crock because the cup is far too small for anyone. Yeah, it’s an appetizer, but who says you should only have a few bites?
Indulge yourself because it tastes awesome. The caramelized onions melted in my mouth while the cheese gave it a thin, salty flavor.
Both sweet and salty flavors are minor. And still, it’s enough to make you hungrier than before. A perfect way to kickstart your hunger if it wasn’t already.
The Grand Plateau was a looker. But it had far too much for us. That costs 125 bucks, and it can fill six people to the brim. So yeah, that’s that.
Our next dish was their signature bone-in dry-aged NY strip. It’s hand-cut and cooked after order. And the best part is that you can have a takeout of uncooked meat.
That way, your family can experience the superior flavors when they want, where they want. It can stay healthy for quite a while.
Anyway, the meat in itself looks menacingly dark. Usually, steaks have this red tint to them, but it’s all black.
Still, I was quite surprised by the taste. It has a sharp flavor that bursts immediately. There is no delay, and it leaves a lasting flavor.
Final Thoughts
It is a true steakhouse that does offer an upscale environment. The place was so beautiful that I admired it for the most part.
The food comes second. Surprisingly, these dishes look so expensive, and yet the price tag is so low. The tip isn’t though, so make sure to count that in.
The dry-aged steak gave us a hell of an experience. No wonder it’s their signature dish. The flavors and the look were so unique that anyone would say, “Have I tried it before?”
Overall, we had a great time at The Capital Grille. And we also feel great to announce the ratings for it, and it is 9 out of 10. It offers a humane space that can be enjoyed by anyone.
