The Loop Pizza Grill History
The Loop Pizza Grill was first spotted in 1981. Mike and Terry Schneider were the couple behind this idea.
Soon he also realized this and ended up in a financially struggling restaurant called AppleJack. It was his father’s old tavern, where he could no longer run after falling ill.
So the young married couple took over his business and renamed it. Before all this, Mike also worked at J.J.’s College Pub, so he had quite a few experiences with all this.
The first restaurant had 60 sitting spaces with counter-position chairs. Meanwhile, The Loop Pizza Grill menu was still developing its signature dishes.
Well, about their parents, his mother was a waitress for a long time, while his father Sam was in the grocery business.
They both had their fair share of experience, and that’s why his father encouraged his mother to start a tavern for themselves.
That’s how Sam’s Place was born. Mike would visit there often and usually brag about how he would never do such a thing.
But now we all know what happened when he grew up. His future was already set in stone for testy business, and now he’s thankful his parents were the hidden heroes behind his luck.
His father had a lot of strokes when Mike was in college. He just met Terry, her lover, and after hearing this tragic news, he had to move in with them.
Terry went with him to their hometown and then took over the business. That’s how it all began. But their love life wouldn’t last long, and soon Terry would file for divorce.
She still had a good percentage of shares to herself, and knowing everything started by both of them, it’s just fair.
The Loop Pizza Grill Review
Despite how everything went, Mike now holds a famous franchise all to himself. The Loop Pizza Grill is not his only creation, but it is one of his best.
According to The Loop Pizza Grill menu, pizza is the go-to pick, but some may argue that burgers are the best.
Well, it all comes down to preference. Burgers can be filled with a lot of things, so we went with that for our first meal.
There were quite a few options in the burger part, but we just had to go for the Loop Burger. It’s the signature dish, after all.
But remember that vegetarian options also exist. For example, a mushroom Swiss burger Anyway, for our meal, we had the original dish.
Cheddar was also an addition, and the same goes for Bleu and Swiss. Other options include mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion with a choice of steak fries, potato chips, or steamed broccoli.
There were substitute items for people with allergies, too. This list includes warm bleu cheese chips, onion rings, or side salad.
Bacon, sauteed mushrooms, double beef, or cheese are the add-on options for all of the burgers. The main dish depends on these add-ons, and the same goes for taste.
In short, it’s more like a make-your-own burger where each customer is free to pick their best combo out of all.
As for the pizza category on The Loop Pizza Grill menu, yes, it was fantastic. There were two size options, but it can be made bigger if requested.
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options were there. In the non-vegetarian part, Special Pizza was the best. While in the vegetable section, the Mediterranean one.
Customization options were there too. It had more size options, from 8 inches to 16 inches. From base to veggies, customers can hand-pick everything, which minimizes the risk of using the wrong ingredients.

Finally Thoughts
BTW, did you know that Mike and Terry also created a Bistro AIX in San Marco right after that? Yup, that’s true; in fact, Mike holds many franchisees under his name.
Mike was a bright student with a degree in mass communication and a knack for Hollywood. But at that time, the film industry was not a bright spot for beginners. That’s how he ended up in the pub industry.
The Loop Pizza Grill has its charm. Food is fantastic; there’s nothing to say about that, but that’s it!
There are quite a few original recipes, but the driving force seems to be lacking. Compared to the current competition, there is so much that is lacking.
And all this is visible in the low number of active locations. As of today, it’s limited to 13, but these numbers were quite high in the past.
Nothing close to 50, but still, the future doesn’t seem that bright until a new idea comes to their mind. But for now, menu items are fantastic, and we just hope they stay like that for a long time.
