Vocelli Pizza History
It was founded by Mt. Lebanon in Pittsburgh in 1988. The first name of this pizzeria was Pizza Outlet.
Pretty straightforward name and it resonates with their signature dish. But their pizza dishes quickly took over the tri-state like wildfire.
By the 1990s, Pizza Outlet started using slogans like “Delivering Great Taste to Your Door” and “The Taste that Screams Fresh!”
Vocelli Pizza menu and prices were made cheaper for college students. Pizza Outlet sold thousands of pizzas daily since Pittsburgh was a hotspot for youngsters from all over the country.
This gave their business a steady supply of regular customers. But that’s not all. Pizza Outlet sold one of the tastiest pizzas in town.
Old folk will clearly remember their commercial ads featuring wrestler Kurt Angle. It was a CGI where two of their pizzas were animated.
Soon, the infamous The Rock also joined the gang. Yes, this is the same rock from WWE, which has now worked on two sequels to Jumanji.
After completely dominating the home market, Pizza Outlet decided to enter the Southern USA.
It was the same time when Tex-Mex-style restaurants were on the rise. But instead of losing hope or giving up for the time being, Pizza Outlet took a huge gamble.
They renamed their 73 Southern restaurants Vocelli Pizza, which we know today. This big step happened in the year 2002.
The company invested 1 million dollars into rebranding and renovating its existing outlets, and this was the right choice.
After the rebranding, sales on the southern side skyrocketed overnight. Just a year after this rebranding, it was adapted to all of their stores.
Vocelli Pizza Review
Now we know how it turned into a big deal. So now it’s time for some Vocelli Pizza menu items you were waiting for.
The Vocelli menu now offers multi-course meals. From appetizers to pizza as the main dish and beverages to end it all.
So we started with classic appetizers. There were 6 items in this category, and we went for Boneless Wings.
It’s exactly how it sounds: breaded with flavorful herbs and oven-baked, our boneless wings taste amazing with or without your favorite wing sauce.
Protein choices included styles like Buffalo, Hot Vesuvius Buffalo, BBQ, Hot BBQ, Mango Habanero, Garlic, Garlic Romano, or Plain.
It came in bite-size, which means each wing can be eaten at once with little or no effort. We’ll recommend going for BBQ flavor, because who doesn’t love a good BBQ?
We ate the hot one, which burned our mouths to a crisp. So it was time for something creamy, so we went for Mac And Cheese.
This came with creamy white cheddar mac and cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and bacon.
Its creaminess took over our burned lips and finally cured them. Now it was time for some healthy veggies, so we had a quick look at the salad section.
We went with the recommended one, called Garden Della Casa. There was a meat option called Tuscan Grilled Chicken.
Anyway, our dish had mixed greens, red onions, green peppers, black olives, and tomatoes, topped with mozzarella and Pecorino Romano cheeses.
Now, to top it all up, it was time for some good drinks. So we went with the classic Coca-Cola, and that’s how our time went with Vocelli.
