Yard House History
It was founded in 1996 by Steele Platt, Tom Yelenick, William Wollrab, and Steve Reynolds in Long Beach, California.
The main goal of this brand was to serve the largest draft beer on the planet. Or at least that’s what the founders think.
The food part is just there to accommodate the drink. But over the years, the food side grew much brighter in demand due to its great portion at the lowest price possible.
Don’t think us wrong; it’s nowhere near the cheapest. But after some careful comparison between the same menus, we found that it is priced towards the lowest side.
They also offer hamburgers and some fast food-style dishes. Both can be seen hanging in the kitchen because they are made daily from scratch.
The seafood comes from the Port of Long Beach, a famous tourist stop and a hub of anything sea-related.
The grand opening was a memorable moment in the history of Yard House. They showcased an original beer called Elvira’s Night Brew.
It paid homage to Elvira from Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. It was played by a talented star named Cassandra Peterson.
Surprisingly, she was so moved by this event that the Mistress of the Dark herself came to pour her drink. This showed that their dream of becoming the best Draft Beer System wasn’t just a dream.
They went all out, and it soon flourished as the number of locations kept growing. It caught the eyes of Darden Restaurants when it grew up to 50 locations.
Darden saw great potential and offered to take it under its wing in 2012. It was a golden opportunity, and Yard House signed the agreement for $585 million.
To this day, Yard House has remained an ever-successful name in the American Draft Beer industry.

And with that, let’s jump right into our first dish called AVOCADO TOAST. Avocado on toast? Well, that’s a weird one, all right.
And it uses the exact same things it sounds like. For example, crush avocado on top of two toasted artisan breads.
Along with whipped feta, red onion, arugula, and baby tomatoes. Avocado isn’t cheap, so it makes sense that each toast costs around 6 bucks.
I would’ve loved to try it out inside a sandwich. Anyway, it doesn’t taste bad in any way. Avocado always had a fresh vibe to it. It’s a superfruit that only has the minimum amount of sweetness to it.
Rest is pure vitamins and the goodies that your body craves, not your mouth. It might taste a bit bland to our salty preference. But believe me, it’s a far better appetizer that satisfies both body and soul.
Next up is Gardein® Orange Chicken. This 20-buck beast comes in a unique mixture of orange and chicken.
In usual terms, the chicken pieces are glazed in pure orange juice before they’re deep-fried. It’s a special dish that combines the ways of America’s style with Chinese cuisine.
You can see it clearly because it has bok choy, baby corn, and jasmine rice too. Bok Choy is a Chinese cabbage that is tasteless at best.
The quantity was low, so it didn’t bother us at all. In fact, it tastes great after it is drenched in the orange glaze pouring down from the chicken. I just have to say, both dishes were exceptional.

Yard House was known for its Draft Beer. But now we can clearly see how great its culinary expertise is.
We had three servings and a beer at the end. The experience was marvelous. Beer is a sensitive topic, and experience changes over time.
But the food had an everlasting effect thanks to its superior quality and generous portions. Again, these aren’t the cheapest in the game, but not expensive either.
If I had to choose, I’d say it stands between the cheap and average price tag. Great food, great beer, and an amazing place to sit by.
