Beef O’Brady’s History
Jim Mellody founded this restaurant in 1985. He tried a lot of different concepts in the past until he ultimately landed on a family-friendly Irish pub.
Eventually, this is what he had in mind from the start, but bad business sense and other things conflicted with his initial thoughts and kind of ruined his vision of the main goal.
Well, it took a while, but he managed to come up with a simple concept. It was called Beef O’Brady’s, a chilled place for old and young alike.
He had a few stakes in Family Sports Concepts Inc., which he sold off in 1988. Not all, but the majority of those were removed from his bins.
He is solely focused on his new business, Beef O’Brady’s, which seems to be booming slowly. It offered beef, which is pretty obvious by reading its name.
Beef dishes are a good start for any restaurant. All you need to do is make it right, and that’s all it’ll take to make yourself popular.
No one can say no to a good, warm meal, even if it tastes exactly like the next store over. Nobody would complain as long as it was fresh and of greater quality.
That’s exactly what happened. Jim eventually developed signature traits in the kitchen. For example, the entire lineup is called Beef’s®.
Along with other meat dishes like pork, chicken, tacos, and so on. The menu part was heavily invested in popular items at the time.
By Q3 of 2000, he had over 40 locations. All that in just 15 years is not an astonishing number, and yet it’s no small feat either.
The numbers doubled in 2002 and quadrupled in 2005. At this point, Beef O’Brady’s serves its superior-quality beef products in 19 states.
Beef O’Brady’s Review
Are you still confused about Beef O’Brady’s menu prices? Don’t worry, you can head over to our second segment for a complete list of what they offer.
Anyway, our first target was the Boom Boom Shrimp. Damn, that name definitely has a boomer vibe. But what does Boom Boom have anything to do with it?
Well, it’s actually the name of their signature sauce. The shrimp are deep-fried after being battered in breadcrumbs.
We got 12 of these, and then those were tossed in their so-called Boom Boom sauce. Don’t be distracted by its name; this boom boom is a nasty piece of sauce.
It’s so spicy that your eyes will pop out immediately. Use the shredded lettuce and wrap the shrimp in it before biting it. Or by the time these shrimp are empty, your throat will be sore like a horse.
Or at least that’s what we believe. Actually, it’s not that bad; I’ve had some truly vile spicy sauces, and this doesn’t even come close.
Still, it’s spicy enough, and I can imagine a non-spicy customer crying over it. You have been warned! The rest is up to you.
It’s time for the ‘O’ Brady Burger. A classic one on the list that has remained unchanged since 1985. How does it stand in today’s market? Let’s see.
It uses top-quality Angus beef, seasoned with a blend of herbs and spices. It’s a hot mixture like the Boom Boom sauce, so be prepared.
You’ll get melted provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion as the toppings, and some curly fries.
It’s a complete combo, but there’s a catch! The layers aren’t thick. It’s ok for the price, but we really expected some generous portions.

Final Thoughts
Somehow, chicken dishes are the most popular of all. Boneless Wings seems to be the fan favorite.
Probably thanks to the Boom Boom sauce. Now here comes the big surprise: the signature burger didn’t have any of that.
Yup, it should have been included in it. Anyway, the restaurant was at its peak around 2005–2010, with over 270 locations. It eventually died down to 245 when Chuck Winship retired as CEO.
The popularity went nuts after the sponsorship in 2009. Yeah, it’s the bowl game. Regardless, the food seems fine, and there are barely any negative sides to it.
So we’ll ignore that for now. Beef O’Brady’s gets a solid 9/10. There’s definitely room to grow because the old ways won’t last forever. Change is imminent, and they probably know about it by now.
